Carissa Hauck

Co-Founder and “Mother of all Mothers”

Carissa, born and raised in Spearfish, started brewing kombucha in her college apartment. While applying for jobs internationally her plans of starting her career and moving abroad were abruptly shattered by a sports accident.

This meant more time for experimenting with kombucha brewing. Soon family and friends were raving about the flavors.

Fast forward she decided to start Spearfish’s first “kombuchary.” If you can’t find her in the brewing facility she’s probably training new moves for Jiu Jitsu.

Bianca Hutzler

Co-Founder and The Idea Gal

Born and raised in a small town in Bavaria, German Bianca moved to the Black Hills to pursue her college career and follow “the American Dream.”

A spirited entrepreneur, passionate about a healthy and active lifestyle, she partnered with friend and college roommate Carissa to chase the dream of entrepreneurship together. If she’s not envisioning new ideas for Scobi, you can find her outside, riding horses, traveling and exploring new surf breaks, or on the yoga mat.

Kara Hagen & Michael Sommer

Co-Owners & Alchemist Duo

As of September of 2021, Kara Hagen and Michael Sommer purchased this wonderful company.

Kara & Mike met over their love of Kombucha. They both loved the Scobi brand. One day, they read an email from Carissa and began the conversation to continue the production of Scobi. It was an opportunity that was meant to be.

Carissa Hauck will stay on board with Scobi at this time, to offer her valuable input in continuing the brand she and Bianca started. We love and appreciate her continued support.
