Our Vision

Making a wholesome product from locally and ethically sourced ingredients, while building stronger and healthier communities across the nation and inspiring others to achieve their true potential.

Our Core Values

  • Ingredients of the highest quality - we source our flavoring ingredients locally and choose only fair trade tea and organic sugar for our kombucha tea base.

  • Integrity and honesty in all areas - staying open and respectful to everyone we meet, and treating every encounter as an opportunity to share our story.

  • Inspire health and wellness in our team, community, and the environment - by staying healthy and motivated as a team, we are capable of pursuing opportunities that improve our community and, through the community, the world.

Our Current Missions

  • Building relationships within our community - our local farmers for their wholesome ingredients, our local businesses for their direct interaction with the community, and our consumers to create a product they believe in and share with others.

  • To build up our community by supporting and supplying a product which brings health and happiness to the communities and people we share with.

  • Setting up a recycling system for our leftover tea leaves and scobies to be re-purposed as nurturing ingredients used by our local farmers.

Our Story

We are a team of dreamers and doers with the vision to make our world a healthier and happier place by crafting a wholesome kombucha with a flavor that makes your tastebuds jump for joy.

How the power of friendship and a broken knee led to starting the first kombucha business in Spearfish below.

Bianca Hutzler

Co-Founder and The Idea Gal

Born and raised in a small town in Bavaria, Germany, the American dream of starting something from the ground up had taken hold, and she knew that the Black Hills was where her dreams could become reality.

A spirited entrepreneur, passionate about a healthy and active lifestyle, she partnered with friend and college roommate Carissa to chase the dream of entrepreneurship together. If she’s not envisioning new ideas for Scobi, you can find her outside, riding horses, training dogs or traveling the world or doing Yoga.

Happy when the “booch” is happy!

Carissa Hauck

Co-Founder and “Mother of all Mothers”

Carissa, born and raised in Spearfish, started brewing kombucha in her college apartment during her senior year at Black Hills State University. While applying for jobs internationally her plans of starting her career and moving abroad were abruptly shattered by a sports accident.

This meant more time for experimenting with kombucha brewing. Soon family and friends were raving about the flavors.

After many long days and nights of experimenting with flavors, perfecting the brewing process, finding the best ingredients, and surrounded with a motivated team she decided to start Spearfish’s first “kombuchary.” If you can’t find her in the brewing facility she’s probably training new moves for Jiu Jitsu.

A cup of good coffee or good kombucha in her hand and a smile on her face.
